She talked about how many in our ward and area have heavy burdens to carry. Through our Ministering efforts we can be aware of those burdens and prayerfully seek ways that we can help lift those burdens. She shared the scripture in Mosiah 24:13-15 that says -
13 And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of good comfort, for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage.
14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.
15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord.
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin gave the following quotes -
“How can we love days that are filled with sorrow? We can’t—at least not in the moment. I am not suggesting that we suppress discouragement or deny the reality of pain. I am not suggesting that we smother unpleasant truths beneath a cloak of pretended happiness. But I do believe that the way we react to adversity can be a major factor in how happy and successful we can be in life.”
He also taught comforting doctrine when he said -
“We need to understand the principle of compensation. The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude.
If we approach adversities wisely, our hardest times can be times of greatest growth, which in turn can lead toward times of greatest happiness.”
Erin challenged us to make an individual short term goal, something we can work on over the next 2 weeks. She encouraged us to use the “SMART” pattern when planning a goal to work towards–
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Recordable and Realistic
Timely

Ministering -
Thank you, to all who attended the Ministering Interviews today! We appreciate all of you for your efforts and we love how the Young Women in our ward are integrating into our Ministering efforts.
From an article that will be in the December Ensign, written by Jean B. Bingham, General Relief Society President, --- We are all learning together as we embrace “a newer, holier approach” to ministering. Perhaps some of us feel overwhelmed or intimidated. It helps to remember that “newer and holier” does not mean “flawless and unachievable.” Whether you are still uncertain about the purposes of ministering and how it works or you think you have it down, I invite you to watch and read the resources at ministering.lds.org and study the Ministering Principles articles published each month in the Ensign. These materials will help align your ministering efforts with the Savior’s work.
