Announcements for May 6, 2018

From our Lesson - Ministering

Moroni 6:4 And after they had been received unto baptism, and were wrought upon and cleansed by the power of the Holy Ghost, they were numbered among the people of the church of Christ; and their names were taken, that they might be remembered and nourished by the good word of God, to keep them in the right way, to keep them continually watchful unto prayer, relying alone upon the merits of Christ, who was the author and the finisher of their faith.

(**See handout below)

Ministering is not a re-branding of Visiting teaching.  Our Heavenly Father is giving us this opportunity to experience a new, broader way of caring for each other. Service is not going to be a “One size fits all”.  It should be led by the spirit, flexible, and should be customized to the needs of the person.

There are many ways to minister, personal visit, texts, e mail, taking a walk, listening, sending a note, teaching something new, etc..... Offering comfort is one of the most Christlike acts we can off others.

Sister Eubanks of the General Relief Society Presidency said “I promise you that as we learn to cherish those to whom we minister, we will be blessed with eternal friendships”.

We encourage you to reach out and Minister to those you come in contact with whether they are your assigned sisters or not.  Even people you pass in the grocery store.  A smile and a kind word can be a great way to minister and help others Feel the Savior’s love.

We appreciate your continued efforts as you minister to the sisters you have been assigned to.  There may be some changes forthcoming as we continue to work as a ward to minister to the needs of each individual and family better, but for now please continue caring for the sisters you have been assigned to, as well as others.

Some goals we talked about for the coming month, with our Ministering efforts are:
- Act on first impressions to do something for someone.
- Work on your Listening skills. Listen to listen, not to fix or answer.
- Share your needs with others and allow others to minister to you.
- Get out of the “ME” syndrome - We will find answers to our own problems as we serve others.
- Ask - Listen - Act
